Expert shares tips on creating the perfect business card

Your business card should not only give your basic details to those you want to share them with – it should be a very reflection of your innovation and personality, according to an expert in marketing communications.

Speaking to Business2Community, Brian Morris underlined the importance of an individual’s branding. He provided five key steps that everyone should take into account when designing their cards, starting with a primary aim: “dazzling” the recipient. “Forget the mug shot and instead do a full-colour photo background,” he said.

Morris then went on to explain that the back of your business card may be just as valuable as the front, so considering more personal information – or useful work-related inclusions such as sports schedules, measurement charts and discount coupons – could be very memorable to a potential client.

Interactivity was number three on Morris’ list; he explained that QR and AR codes can make cards fun, compelling and flexible. Whether it’s a link to a website, app or video, the link can also be changed regularly and without having to print a new code!

Social media profile links are very popular but often overlooked, and the expert highlighted their importance as his penultimate point. Finally, Morris’ final point was to simply “have fun”. “If you want to print a truly memorable business card, take the time to have a bit of fun with it,” he said. ” A photographer could print a die-cut business card with a cut-out frame, for example, or a tech consultant could pass out a business card that, when scanned, leads to a fun (and relevant) smartphone game.”
