Waitrose designs Christmas card for members

Working alongside Kitcatt Nohr Digitas, Waitrose has designed a collection of Christmas cards for myWaitrose customers as a thank you for their loyalty. The card, which reads “serve up a little magic this Christmas”, also includes money-off vouchers.

The supermarket’s brief for the agency was to retain and reward its current members with a direct marketing campaign, encouraging customers to remember the store throughout the Christmas period. The cards themselves are designed in a simplistic, minimalist style, in keeping with the store’s overall campaign this year – earlier in the month they aired a dressed-down Christmas advert with Delia Smith and Heston Blumenthal, in which they announced that the store had donated its Christmas marketing budget to charities instead.

Waitrose marketing manager for direct marketing, Neil Stead, commented: “We wanted to send our myWaitrose members something to say thank you and make them feel special this Christmas. We hope the vouchers enclosed in the Christmas card will help with their shopping in the festive season.”
